    So Guys

Next Gen Is Here... Right...... Well It Doesnt Feel too next gen when we have tearing issues. I mean dont get me wrong, its not the end of the world, but its Hardly Next Gen is it.

Are we hoping this is just an Ubisoft issue that they will resolve or are we gonna have this problem on the next GTA , Forza , Halo 3 etc... I Certainly hope not....

Im not saying the 360 aint great, for £280 bucks i think its unbeatable. But just a bit disapointed with these glitches.

Would be good to hear other peoples views on this.

    P :)

Well at the moment there are only 2 games i have seen tearing on (PDZ and GRAW) so i dont think it is a big issue.

I thank your find alot of tearing issues people report are caused by poor response times on LCD's - it's only human nature to blame the 360 instead of the £1500 TV you purchased without knowing the pitfalls of slower LCD technology.

And before the LCD camp start flaming me I'm fully aware of the pitfalls of Plasma and DLP and fully aware that you can get superb, super quick response time LCD's that do not tear!

I have seen tearing on PDZ on my DLP but never GRAW - perhaps I have not noticed in GRAW because I get so immersed in the game, I don't know!

Admittedly I have only played 3 games on my 360, NFS:MW, PGR3 and condemned, but I have never had any tearing or frame rate issues on my 32LD7200.

Crashing during NFS on the other hand I get all the time:thumbsdow

i would of thought developers would of catered for the technology out now.

    We`ll wait and see.

What tearing? Looks lovely to me.

Explain a bit, typical scene in GRAW that exhibits the problem, what display kit you're using, that kinda thing

Right at the start of Graw when the ubisoft logo comes on, the picture 'tears'. Look for horizontal lines in the picture

I too get a small amount of tearing (only small areas) and an extremely annoying stutter during the initial clip. The game itself plays fine though - as far as I've played anyway.

I'm surprised you didn't see any artifacts during Condemned - it was laiden with them presumably due to the rush to get it ready for launch.

If you are getting single FPS in Oblivion then there may be something wrong with your 360. I played for 10 hours and ye the frame rate drops a bit at times but definitely nowhere near the single figure mark

Everyone gets tearing no matter what, beacuse its the xbox 360 not the display type. Its just some people tend to see these sort of problems and other people would rather play the game

I am the sort who sees the problem :(

I think you hit the nail on the head there. Ultimately games are complex things and the odd graphical glitch here and there is perfectly acceptable. The vast majority of the time it doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the game. That said, in Oblivions case, it seems rather an oversight on the part of the beta testers to have glaring glitches in the opening scenes

I'm not sure I understand your logic regarding poor response times of LCD.

I am certain that the only reason there are video-tearing issues on some xbox 360 games is because developers have choosen to favour frame-rate over v-sync. If you look at COD2, the game runs at 60fps most of the time but now and then when there is alot going on, the framerate takes a hit but there is no video-tearing in that game. Same thing applies with Condemned, absolutely no video-tearing what so ever.

Disabling video-sync helps to keep the framerate smooth when things get a bit too much and at the end of the day it is the developers choice.

If this video tearing is because of LCD's poor response time then why don't I get any video-tearing with PC games when I have the v-sync enabled?

Btw, if people had to favour choose between solid framerate and enabling
V-sync (no tearing) what would you choose?

I get Tearing on My PC monitor when playing Quicktime Video on my PC or when the ID logo comes up when starting up Doom 3 and playing PC games, but when I hook my 360 up to it I do not get Tearing, strange that it, guess the 360 can cope with my display but not the PC...

Nothing to do with handling the monitor.

I would go for v-sync'd rock solid graphics everytime.
I can live with a drop in framerate when things get hectic on screen but I cannot live with the graphics constantly tearing and stuttering.

Out of Quake 4 with its poor framerate and PDZ with its tearing I go Quake 4 everytime. Tearing hurts my eyes and makes the games unplayable :(

Tearing is not caused because of reponse times it's because v-sync has been turned off (i guess you dont play any fps on the pc?). It's just a way to increase frame rate, personally i hate it, it make's the game look tacky. I'ts very early days yet for the 360 and programmers still have yet to fully utilise the 360's capabilities but seriously if by December game's are still coming out with tearing i will probably sell my 360, there's just no excuse for it.

I've seen tearing in PDZ and GRAW, although noticeable in single player it's more noticeable in multiplayer.

I never noticed any tearing on the Xbox.
