Nope its not the either the Philips 32PF9830 or the Toshiba 32WLT58 :hiya: both reviewed in the same Xmas Awards issue.

Nor is it the Samsung LE32A41B

    Not the Hitachi 32LD7200

The Runner Up spot goes to the impressive Panasonic TX-32LXD500

    But the winner is

    The Sony KDL-V32A12U

I think each company "own's" a different magazine :rotfl:

The fact that they all come up with a different winner is enough evidence that you cant trust them, for me it is anyway.

Yep the same one that What HiFi :rotfl: gave 3 stars in an exhaustive half page review. Apart from my own 20/20 vision, i trust What Video more than i do a Hi Fi magazine

I don't trust What Hi-Bribe either, but the set REALLY does over-emphasis any digital artifacts in the picture....even with sharpness at minimum!

I have seen it at that score in two magazines! Definately a split opinion on this model.

I believe that the following mags all share the same AV test laboratories:

    Home Cinema Choise
    What Plasma & LCD
    What Video & Widescreen TV
    What Home Cinema

I woudl therefore imagine they will all give similar results when it comes to technical facts, meaning therefore that the rest of the review will be down to the personal taste of the tester... which IMHO is the largest factor in determining a rating...

The little time I spent with the Sony impressed me TBH - it definately has shelf appeal and I reckon despite the mixed reviews it will still sell well.

Before I buy something like a dvd player, computer game, speakers etc I always buy a few magazines because I know some will be biased and I look at the pros and cons.
I have not seen the Philips tv yet but ordered it despite seeing the Panasonic 500 in a shop and thinking it looked great.
I went for the Philips because pixel is supposed to be better, it had HDMI and DVI, rotating stand, 2 rgb scart sockets component etc.

I have been looking to buy an LCD HD for the last 2 months and to be honest there is not one set out there that people have not had a problem or something they have not liked. Ok I should have looked at the Philips in a shop before buying but I dont have any specilist shops where I am and a lot of shops just buy the tvs to order.

I do advise buying magazines and look at the pros and cons but go for soemthing that does what you want it to do. I watch football, play games and I wanted to use my PC on an LCD which is why I went for the philips. I heard that this LCD handles football the best and it has a DVI and HDMI output while others might not be intrested in gaming, watching football etc. Others might want an LCD with free view built in.

Have a read of the latest HCC mag on the shelves in WH Smiths.

Distinctly underwhelmed they were and seems to back up the other negative review of this set.

Reviews are good but not the definitive reason to buy or not. If there is something materially wrong with the set, i.e. convergence, geometry, tizzing then a review is a good indication of technical excellence. However, if you go and have a look at it in the shops, how many times have you went "Oh that's quite a disappointing picture! for 5/5"
