Received my PB2 Ultra 3 days ago and I just wanted to thank SVS and all SVS fans on AV forum for enlightening me.

I`ve spent over £10K over the last 2 years on the sound side of my system and was really well happy with it all but have "ummed and arrred" re: subs for all that time putting the sub off to last, even wondering if it would make all that much difference.

I never even knew about SVS until I discovered this site and on reading all SVS threads and fans finally ordered one last month. Have to admit though wonderered if all overhyped as it all seemed a bit over the top for SVS.....

Well all I can say is I am bloody in love with what this thing has done to my system!!! It is simply unreal!!
I know it`s a top sub and all that but it has really made my system a £20K one for £1400 and I`m not exagerating.

The bass is so smooth and unbelievably powerful it just "puffs" my speakers into a different league. Finally my system sounds like a top cinema and then some!! My face can feel the bass on movies on my cheeks but it doesn`t even sound loud to do that!!

Music was one area I thought it would probably mess up....WRONG, It now finally breathes, really sings!! and at last the speakers never now sound even slightly strained, they`re relaxed and happy now.

I know I sound a prat but it really is that good and I haven`t even properly set it up yet so I don`t know the technical side, but you just know when you`ve got it right.

Anyway thanks again as if I hadn`t spotted "ettepets" and Ian J`s threads last year I would have never known!

Yes Black it is, bargain at that price you can tell would be twice that elsewhere.

Saw BFD mentioned a lot, does it make big difference in "normal" rooms? What I mean is that haven`t set it up properly yet but sounds great now, so......

Congratulations Glen - you are indeed a lucky man, and lots of us know exactly how you feel - and "like a prat" isn't quite right, but I know what you mean :) . It's almost hard to believe how good these things are. A PB2 Ultra as well  . I know that in my house my wife sometimes thinks that I'll reduce the whole neighbourhood to a pile of rubble  , but yours has more power still - well I'm almost quite jealous. Have fun with it - play all those test scenes that we all know and love (tell us how Darla sounds :D ) and report back some more

It depends if you have a problem or not, assuming you have a cd burner and a sound meter follow the steps on here:

    http://www.snapbug.ws/bfd.htm

to bench mark your sub. If you have any big peaks or troughs then you should benefit from a BFD, the BFD for me removed a 15 db peak at about 42 Hz that made my sub boomy.

Welcome to the fastest growing AV club around. I think that you are the first here with the PB 2 Ultra but having read the review in "Secrets" I don't suppose that you'll be the last.

Not everybody needs equalisation in their rooms and one person having equalised his to a perfectly flat response then switched it all off as he preferred the sound "au naturelle"

Let us know how you get on with it when it has bedded in a little and you have had time for a chat with Darla

Thanks everyone and the Nemo dvd is the only dvd I can`t find as I lent it out (sod`s law). Am out today but will see if I can get it back tomorrow.

Favourites so far are S/Wars Attack/Clones Chp 28 (and whole film, esp` THX inro!!!)- Seismic charges unreal and Saving P/Ryan 1st bit- is now an experience rather than film.

The best thing though is that I`m wanting now to put every dvd on to see just how much that one improves but some of the quiet passages also now sound great even though they`re quiet-weird?

Only downside is wife and cat have dissapeared upstairs since it arrived but she`s complaining as the bass upstairs is just as loud! (and the bedrooom floor`s moving!!)-even weirder?

Glen, where did you get it from, did you buy it in the UK, or did you get it imported . If you hed it imported, did you have to pay any tax or import duty or anything like that for it ?

He did get it imported, thats the only way to do it.

It can be risky but SVS seem hell bent on providing good service even from thousands of miles away.

My mate considered the same sub you have bought and it really is in the league of top subs, enjoy your purchase mate.

Well done Glen Dowie, I have a pb2+ and 25-31+ and I'm still jealous, I just want to have all the svs subs like Frank the svs bassaholic.
Try Saving Private Ryan later on in the film, from scene "Born Lucky" where they are waiting for the attack on the village. FEEL those tiger tanks and panzers approach
You will have so much fun, make sure you dig Titan AE out as well, that will shake your couch.

Forget the 1st bit of "Saving Private Ryan" Glen.

It's just a small back garden fireworks display and finger plasters.

Move onto the Bridge scene with the tanks coming in.

That'll move your floors! All of them!

PB2 Ultra? Does this mean we all have to hate him? :D

Yes Rip they are 240v which are specifically built for the UK market and upon purchase you request that it be built with that in mind.

MY SVS even came with a mains plug that fitted my wall sockets.

How about that for service!

    I wonder how they knew I have two-pin 240V sockets? :D

Finally laid hands on Nemo dvd tonight and played Darla scene..

Unbelievable!!!!! It is pure heaven!!!!! Has got to be the cleanest , purest massive amount of total bass I`ve ever heard.

It`s not so much bang as just pure, pure class. The lights shook, cat ran but the wife stayed and actually enjoyed it!!! Even she said very reluctantly how good it sounded.

The thing I really like about this sub is you can turn it up as high as you want and it just goes with you and sounds exactly as calm as it started. I`m frankly after a week now slowly going deaf but enjoying it and finding it really hard to leave it turned down. (Prat again!)

In summary (though I haven`t heard many subs), this sub is a very big box made beutifully, with the very best drivers and amp giving the most smoothest perfect bass in simply ANY quantity you desire, period.

And for £1400, you could not ask for more!!, I think you could spend a hell of a lot more for a hell of a lot less. Now i`m off to hearing aids `R`us!

I think good bass is probably the best thing about Home Cinema and when you do hear it cleanly Wow what a smile :)
