I have just bought a panasonic TH42PZ70 and would like some advise on peoples recommended settings please.

Also, is it recommended to have different settings for a running in period?

Many thanks

Use the search, there is a huge thread discussing settings and running in - its never normally more than a couple of pages in as it tends to be fairly active.

I've read somewhere that its best to keep it in cinema mode for the first two hundred hrs and then change things around. But never to put it in dynamic mode - in which case, whats the point of having dynamic mode in the first place?

These are the settings I've used:

Viewing Mode: Cinema
Contrast: 60%
Brightness: 40%
Colour: 55%
Sharpness: 50%
Colour Balance: Normal
Colour Management: On
P-NR: Off
Overscan: Off

You may find, like I did, that you prefer the 'run in' settings fullstop. I've not changed the above settings since day one some months ago. I've not seen any retention at all.

Dynamic mode is the factory pre-set.Sony, Panasonic etc all set their TVs to Dynamic so that they look nice and bright in the show rooms.
If a Panasonic was set up correctly (cinema mode is close enough) next to a Sony in Dynamic mode in a shop the Panasonic would look dull in comparison and people would buy the Sony.
Dynamic is MILES away from a good picture.Contrast, brightness and colour are all ramped up to rediculous levels giving a totally unrealistic picture.
I have not got a clue why some people prefer Dynamic mode but a couple of days of Cinema should be enough to convince people the error of their ways as they return to Dynamic mode and need a pair of sun glasses to watch the screen.

I agree the settings above are good and are nearly same what i use,but i would personally have P-NR on as this helps with the bars down side when programmes are transmitted in 4.3.
