I am about to buy a plasma (eventually) which is the better picture quality between these two Panasonics? Both are in Richer Sounds for 999

    Thanks

    picture is the same
on the 6 you can input RGBHV and componant into the onboard VGA socket.
on the 7 you can only input RGBHV into the onboard VGA socket.

B = official british product (so the 7 might be a grey import)

I would go for the 6 series personally, being able to input component on the vga is excellent.
Also I am not sure what the score is with fluctuating brightness levels but I was reading just yesterday on the avsforum that people with PW7s are still noticing it.

I had the 6 as I wanted componant input on the VGA
Looks like the concensus is for the 6.

i have a pw7 and i havent noticed the fluctuations in contrast on mine and i notice faults on stuff pretty quickly.i have never seen a pw6 so i cant say wether or not it is better but there was some consensus about the pw6 being a much dearer screen on release compared to the pw7 so maybe it had better components but i have to say i was a plasma sceptic but now i have one i have to say im more than happy with it over my sony ls60 crt.

The PW4/5 are still regarded as some of the best plasmas ever made too.

I suppose when the glass was costing £2k each then the manufacturers could justify putting expensive power supplies etc. in there, now the glass is only costing a few hundred pounds you have to try and save money elswhere too?

the 6 was £3500 when released the 5 was £4500. there isnt much time between the 6 and 7 but the retail cost difference was huge.

on the 7 they disabled it, so they could sell more component boards I guess.

Yeah, that's right... But I'll have to order from Germany, as shipping from the UK will add 250£ to the price :S

But is the 6 series superior in PQ too? Or is that the same? And will the 6 series do HDTV?
