Looking for a TH42PV500, but want a pedestal not a cab or wall mount. Supplies of the Cab sem to be coming on now with many retailers claiming to have stock (and some like empiredirect I would belive) however cant seem to find anyone with 42" and peds. Anyone have any info' when they might become available, I notice 37" with Peds are now around - is it the same stand ? I assume so.

It IS the same stand for the 42 and 37 (but not the 50). These are in such short supply in UK, for people buying TVs, that your best bet to obtain one separately may be in Europe, where these plasmas have been shipping for a while. The product code for it can be found on most Pansonic sites in Europe EXCEPT UK, where they just have TV+PED/CAB/WAL configs, and is TY-ST42PX500. This is for sale on various European web sites including both Panny and 3rd party box shifters. I am assuming that by "pedestal" you mean pedestal, rather than TV with pedestal. In Europe Panny have had the sense to sell the plasma by itself and the stands are a separate choice, whereas in UK there seems to have been a major screw-up by Panny UK and you get the TV with a certain type of stand and that's it.

It's not the fact that Panny sell TV's with stands in the UK and the TV's as bare units in Europe. The PE30's were originally sold as TV's only in the UK last year and the pedestal stand supply was a debacle then. Seems like Panasonic UK Consumer division never learn by past cock ups.

I'm getting a sense of deja-vu. Apparently the launch of the PA20 was similar to the PE30 and the now PE50/PV500... plenty of TV's, cabinet stands, wall mounts but precious few pedestal (desktop) stands.

Strangely on ringing my local panasonic shop they said they would only sell the pedestal stand if i had a wooden table or a certain alphason stand (pd105i think) or they would not sell me it!! on the grounds of health and safety.
Anyone else heard of this from there panny shops?

Never heard that one. :rotfl: My local Panny shop told me they would not sell me a pedestal unless I cancelled my existing TV order with another shop (£2200) and instead bought my TV from them for an extra £800. A really helpful suggestion NOT. Never been back in there since. All Panasonic shops are independents that buy a franchise from Panny so their level of service is extrememly variable from shop to shop.
