Had a look at a TH42-PV500 in a shop on Saturday alongside a 42-PVE? (the previous model) and was amazed by the difference. Using the same panasonic demo DVD as input, the dot on the "i" in the panasonic logo looked like a bowtie on the PVE and a crisp square in the PV500. Apart from the TV itself the other difference was that the DVD player was linked to the TV with an HDMI cable.
My question is - what was it that really made the difference? was it the HDMI interface, or the TV? Would I get as good a pic on the PV500 with a normal composite input, or component inputs, as with the HDMI?
I need to know if I'll have to fork out another few hundred quid on an HDMI DVD player!
