In the next 12-24 hours I'm gonna order an AE500 from Price Japan, is there anything buyers should be aware of before purchasing? Thanks.

Well that's not me in case you're wondering :) Buying direct from price japan will give you a much better deal!

Buns, you're right about the japanese only menus. Kaneda recommended downloading the english manual and it looks fairly straight forward menu wise. The only thing is there's no service menu, so I might not be able to adjust the picture quality.

The other niggling thing is that there's no scart socket so the s-video port is going to be over used.

Panasonic UK have just receved details of the AE500. Initial estimates are for a price of under £1400, it will more than likely be a package with a free screen to start with, and the UK version gets a scart socket again!

I have absolutely no other information other than basic spec which I'm sure veryone knows by now anyway, for those who don't:

    - 1280 x 720 res
    - 850 ANSI
    - 1300:1 contrast
    - 27dB
    - 10 bit processing, 1024 shades gradation (equals 1.07 billion colours)
    - H & V keystone
    - 2:2 and 3:2 pulldown
    - improved smoothscreen
    - DVI, scart, s-video, composite video, component

Thanks for the info, Liam. Has a confirmed date yet been mentioned? Also, don't suppose you know whether the £1400 quoted price is RRP, or an early estimate of what we'll likely be paying after retailers own applied discount?

£1600 is rrp but I think we'll be looking at around £1400. Have now heard that we should have them in the next week or two!!!
