Aloha to all...its the noob again... :lease:

I keep on reading in many many posts about "SCALERS" and how they MARKEDLY IMPROVE the PQ even on EDTVs...

I checked out the scaler forums and I could not find any explanatory posts...just questions about connections and models....

Can anyone give me their 2 cents on what r "SCALERS" exactly...and what do they do...are they worth the extra cost....will they benefit a Panasonic 42PWD7 substanially...and lastly.......

WILL THIS CRAZINESS EVER STOP SOMEWHERE  ...lol...everytime I think I've finally got it..covered all the hardware I need...understood the different formats and resoulutions...the new technologies...etc...I find myself once again in the dark....

    Hardware used:
    Yamaha RX-V550 A/V reciever
2 STBs (both regular Satellite broadcast..no HD)
Philips DivX Prog Scan DVD player
    Panny TH-42PWD7

    THANKS!!
