A tft shop.

thank you for a sensible reply kind sir
Depends on your budget mate... Currently the best rated 17" TFT is the Hitachi CML174SXW, followed by the Iiyama AS4314UTG and the stylish Hercules ProphetView 920. The model names just roll off the tongue don't they? ^_^;;
Try http://www.kelkoo.co.uk/ for prices. Hope that helps.
Also check http://uk.pricerunner.com/ for price comparison and the Eizo L565 (same panel as the Hitachi but a better implementation imho)
Most TFT manufacturers have a 'policy' regarding dead pixels which is less than 100% perfect. Usually it means that up to say 5 permenently bright pixels is deemed 'acceptable'.
I disagree, as, I suspect, would you. The good news is that pixels rarely fail un use; they can however be DOA.
Therefore, my advice is to buy from a bricks and mortar retailer where you can preview the exact item you are going to buy, before you buy it. IMO, it is worth paying a little more for the ability to do this.
Although various regulations give you various rights when buying over, say, the internet, some peoples' experience is less than pleasant when trying to obtain a refund for a less-than-perfect product.
I have an Eizo L565 for my computer & can vouch for it.
Got it at www.dabs.com (used them quite a bit for computer gear & they have always been reliable)
I have bought about 20 or so AOC screens. They are the 17" LCD model for £239 + vat. 3 year next day swap out garantuee and have speakers built in.
