Tft Monitor

    Not sure if this is the right section to be posting this but....

    If my oc tft monitor has a dvi input does that mean if i hook up a dvd player with dvi output it will play on it? sounds like a stupid question but im not sure.

    Answers are appreciated

    Pretty good question actually.

    The answer is probably not. The DVI output on the player will probbaly have HDCP (Copy Protection) applied, and since your monitor wasn't ever made for plugging a DVD into, it won't be able to respond to the HDCP request so you'll get no picture.

    And that's if the cable fits in the first place - there's actually one or two different variations of DVI.

    thanks mate, was looking at a Samsung SyncMaster will have a squint at their website see if i can find out a firm answer.
