I always find the "diva" sequence from the FIFTH ELEMENT to be a good test.
Also the "submarine drop" in FINDING NEMO really tests your bass ability. Then there's the opening of AUSTIN POWERS 3 ('specially in DTS).
What else....?....Oh yeah,BEHIND ENEMY LINES.. the part where Burnett runs thru the disused factory setting off a load of booby trap mines,(again AWESOME in DTS).
Music wise on DVD there's QUEEN'S greatest video hit's (1+2), if you've got the ability to play DTS 24/96 the then these will "BLOW YOU AWAY".
I don't really play a lot of CD's, mostly MP3 discs I've compiled so can't comment on test disc's, but I do have a SACD of Peter Gabriel's SECRET WORLD and the quality is very good.

Anyone else wish to add their fave's ??

DVD - Master And Commander for ambient surround effects (flapping sails, creaking timbers, aha me hearties!!) and effective surround steering when the cannons fire between ships.
Music - Steely Dan - Everything Must Go (DVD-A) for pristine sound and good use of of the rear effects channels. Also Talk Talk - Spirit Of Eden and Laughing Stock (CD) for studio atmosphere and dynamic range.

Digital Video Essentials DVD (or similar) should be in everyones collection.

Together with a SACD set-up disc, possibly the best value 'upgrades' I have made.

Although it did force me to find out how to tweak the service menu of my TV - a little scary, but worth it.

Master and Commander gets my vote too.

about the last third of Return of the King, as soon as the carnage begins.

Well actually... all three parts are excellent for system testing (picture and sound).
