3 new signings to manage 3 new services

Confirmation that Tesco is looking to muscle in on the digital media market has come with the news of three new appointments to manage its forthcoming services.

Tesco is planing its own ebookstore called blinkboxbooks, a digital music store called blinkboxmusic for later this year and will soon roll out Clubcard TV, an ad-supported streaming TV and movie site.

Gavin Sathianathan, Facebook’s EMEA retail chief will be managing director of blinkboxbooks. Mark Bennett, defecting from head of digital at rival chain Sainsbury’s, will be managing director of blinkboxmusic. Scott Deutrom, who was director of advertising at blinkbox, will be managing director of Clubcard TV.

“The development of these new services demonstrates our total commitment to providing the very best entertainment as easily as possible for our customers,” Michael Comish, Tesco’s CEO of digital entertainment, said.
