For those who have high performance cars or Jap imports really.

Just filled up at the local Tescos Extra (Normally use Esso or Shell) and found that there Super Unleaded is 99 RON !! Don't know if there is a difference yet as I've only just put it in, but I'll be looking at the performance and miles per tank too.

BTW. 94.9p per litre in Hayes, London.

Hi Rich,

If you plan on using 99ron regularly then it might be worth getting the car mapped for it, otherwise not sure if you will notice the difference, unless you shove it on a dyno :)

My last car ran great with 98ron, (ideally 99ron) would have done me but it wasn't available at the time. Decent fuel mapping :)

Cheers Kavster but my car is an imported MR2 which ideally should run on the Japanese 100 RON anyway.

Good heads up for others running hi spec UK cars though.

Yes,although the topic was also gone through in this thread, where the gains on anything other than turbocharged engines were pretty small...

The major gain with turbo engines comes when running higher boost levels, with a suitably remapped ECU,allowing you to run higher levels with reduced risk of preignition.

Both may cars were running pretty decent levels of boost(3 bar for the Sierra, and about 2.5bar for the Escort) so Super Unleaded was a necessity rather than a luxury...
