terryscan terrestrial meter

    hi all ,i have bought a terryscan terrestrial meter 2nd hand.it is in good condition and it scans perfect.the one thing i do not understand is the gain and how it works. .i tried the swires website .it does not give much info.any help would be great. jhaye2x

    I have no firm idea (not being familiar with that unit), but I assume it allows the operator to increase/decrease the system gain so as to get the carrier/signal peaks into the display without clipping and/or to try to see a carrier close to the noise floor?

    It should have come with a manual which may tell you more? Swires may supply a copy if you ask them?

    What happens when you press the gain buttons (and are connected to a working aerial).
