    Hello

The Big question, before I buy either of this cards is, which is better...

You can get the Terratec here for £165.... (plus a little more for delivery..)

Or you can get the M-Audio here for £150 including delivery...

The terratec has the added feature of a drive bay full of connectors, optical spdif etc, like the SBLive! drive...

I currently have a SBLive! 5.1 and feel that the soundcard upgrade will make a difference....

So, which of the two 24/96 cards are better?

I have the Terratec EWX 24/96, it is very similar to the Audiophile, same chipset, similar quality and design etc, but uses optical vs coax. The problem with both cards is poor game support. This new Terratec builds on the older 24/96 card by adding proper game support and they throw in the drive bay thingy. So if you have any intension of playing games I would think that this would be an excellent choice, otherwise you are giving yourself an extra potential headache with little benefit.

So is the only advantage to the M-Audio a lower price?

The only other advantage I saw was the vast number of HTPC users that use the m-audio. Hopefully this means that if I have any problems someone here or on avs has already sorted it.

I suspect that everyone has bought the m-audio over there because Cliff Watson from Digital Connection has some ties with them and he is a big influence on avs.

In this country the m-audio seems to be stocked by more music shops but I'm guessing our needs are quite different.
