I am looking to buy both of these, have had a look about and there are loads of different versions around. Can anyone tell me which are the better ones to buy. For T2 i was looking at this http://www.dvdsoon.com/show-title-details.xml?uid=48691 what do you reckon?
For Terminator 2 there are definitely a lot of options. The Extreme Edition is probably the one with the best image quality BUT the included hi-def version of the movie DOES NOT WORK unless you mess around with your PC quite considerably, and there is no :dts: soundtrack The Ultimate Edition has slightly worse PQ but does have :dts: and THREE different versions of the movie. look here for a list of comparisons http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=160 also for The Terminator http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=982
hold up, the one on play is the R2 which is nothing like the R1 ultimate edition, in fact it only has 1 version of the movie, not 3..
didn't realise that and have got an email to say its been despatched today. I guess i could return it where is the best place/price to get the region 1 ultimate edition?
Yeah the R2 is missing the theatrical, but it does contain the deleted scenes that are placed into film with 'seamless branching' to create the extended edition. I will probably just go for the UK 4D once it gets cheaper.
The Extreme Edition is the way to go, the picture is far superior to anything else and the dolby track is excellent although the best way is just to get both ultimate and extreme, since both have different extra features. If you could get hold of the Japanese full bitrate DTS track though...
i've been thinking of getting the extreme myself because it's only £7 at dvdsoon and if anyone can get the bloody wmv version working then i can, but does it still come in the embossed tin??
I got the Extreme edition, and if you search the review sites on the web there are pretty good comparisons. http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/dvdcompare/term2.htm Even if you don't use your PC for the Hi-Def version the normal version on this disc is arguably extremely close. For me the loss of the DTS track is not vital as the 5.1 is awesome. Worth it.
