The STB is based on a US design and as such would be likely to support mpeg2 HD, interesting if TW were to buck the trend and adopt the older codec for an intital saving and earlier roll out.

In this day and age it's short sighted for a new DVR not to be HD compliant especially from a cable platform who are likely to loan hardware and are not in the postion to constantly replace STB's unlike SKY and other platforms.

Scientific Atlanta had the Telewest PVR running with SD material at the IBC convention in Amsterdam.

Had a look at the back panel and it has:
    Analogue Component video
    HDMI
    Ethernet
    2 x SCART
    Toslink and Coaxial audio
    eSata
    3 x serial port
    IR remote out socket
    USB
    Smartcard socket

    MPEG-2 HD , no H.264

    It's a fanless design.

160GB hard drive , with eSata for expansion.
