Telewest Digital Cable Box..

I'm not sure if this query has been answered on the forum before so I'll plow on regardless :)

I subscribe to Telewest Digital - I have a PACE box but unfortunately this does not have any audio outs - what I've been doing is just running a connection from my TV to my amp. This isn't really ideal.

Does anyone therefore know if Telewest supply any sort of different boxes with audio outs and how I could go about getting one (hopefully free)

Cheers all

Surely it has a SCART socket from which you can break out or tap off the audio .
You can even buy Scart to phono adaptors that do this. You may also need a SCART splitter lead (duplicates the SCART connections at the rear of the Cable-box) so you can maintain a direct SCART connection to the TV at the same time.

Thanks that looks just the ticket. Incidentally where do you get those cables you mentioned made up - at Maplins as well?

I got the cables made by Keene Electronics, although they were only they were RGB + C only and I added the pin 8 & 16 afterwards (cos I forgot to ask for them to be made up).

Scary opening up £30-40 worth of cable and attacking with a soldering iron!!!

Keene will do the custom cables though with those pins just call them up and ask them.

The box from Maplin was exactly what I was trying to suggest.
I guess I need to verbalise better :)

Breakout from scart is the way to go regardless of connectors on Pace boxes, the phonos are a joke, they're dual mono for some strange reason. Or at least they are with NTL, can't see they'd be different with a different cable co.
