Television just gave up!

Hi guys

Have a sony trinitron widescreen tv Model No kv-32ds20u. Its just gone blank on the screen and is making a rapid high pitched clicking noise...any ideas or should i just go for 50" plasma now!

I've had those symptons on an old goodmans portable, i was told by a friend the tube had failed and a replacement would cost more than the value of the telly! (only £100 anyways)

It's "Tripping" due to a fault.
It could be a faulty line output transformer...pretty common on this chassis.
You would really need to call out an engineer and get it looked at...may be worthwhile and not too expensive...certainly a lot cheaper than that Plasma.
