13yo son playing his Xbox one.

18yo daughter objects to something or other (am not clear), they argue and she removes the plug from the mains.

Now, Xbox one has following problems: -
    • Long time to load up on startup
    • Unit is Noisy (was virtually silent)
    • The "Hi...." screen only shows on right hand side (left hand side is blank)
    • Slow initial loading for any game
    • Installed app icons don't show
Picture of the last symptom attached. My plan is to engage a local engineer (Derby), unless there is a welcome better/ cheaper/ easier suggestion?

Ta - is there any way to backup all the stuff that he's going to lose?

That is, before we reset and so he can restore after the reset?

I'd try holding the power button on the front of the console down for 10 seconds first and when the light goes orange on the power supply remove the power connector from it, leave it for a couple of minutes and then reconnect and see how it boots up?

if you factory restore then you will lose everything on the console so should be a last resort...

If you need to restore, all save game files are now stored on the cloud so you don't have to worry about those but you would need to re download/install all apps and games.

As mentioned already game save files are stored in the cloud, so if everyone has a Xbox Live account on the console then all should be fine.

As for game installs, you do have a couple of options - provided your console is functional enough to perform such tasks. If you have a USB 3.0 external HDD you can move all the games onto that first which will save you the hassle of re-installing disc games or re-downloading digital games.
