Looking for opinions on which of the above brands is better, I'm looking for a 50 or 55" screen on a limited budget.

Thanks

Hisense are becoming well known.
I haven't seen or heard of Techwood before so it could just be some brand whereas Hisense are a manufacturer.

Whats the budget? The more we know, the better advice we can give. I havn't seen any of either brand (the fact that Techwood is apparently sold through Morrisons isn't encourging), but if you give some info on what your after (Full HD, 4K?), we'll see what we can do.

I round a reference to Techwood being made by Vestel for some retailer so Morrisons sounds right.

Budget is around £400, less preferably.

I only want 1080p, a couple of HDMI sockets at least an S/PDIF out to connect it to my Samsung surround sound.

The Samsung J5500 in a 48in is available for £419 currently, with 3 HDMI's, optical out, and smart. I watched one for a couple of days the other week, and I was surprised at how good it still was, when set up properly.

Its worth having a look at clearance items (so you can buy a better spec for your money), Black Friday, etc. However, I think the Samsung is a benchmark, and certainly going to be a better spec than the Techwood for not that much more money.
