I have seen this recorder as listed in the title, and wondered if anyone has anything to say about it? Seems a good deal, or am I missing something?
I don't need an all whistles recorder, just something that does the same job as a vcr. Though an EPG would be nice ( if there is such a thing on recorders?).
And one final question, if a recorder has firewire on it, can you attach a laptop with same connector and use it as a kind of external 'burner'?

    Cheers,

    Dean.

A link to the Techsonic would be handy for starters.

Meanwhile, some DVDRs will allow you to use the Firewire input with non-camcorder material, but all recording happens in real-time, i.e. 1x speed. A 16x DVD burner will only set you back around £35 and a USB-2 adapter around £15, and will give you a much more flexible setup if that's the way you want to go.
