>>>HERE<<<'s what has already been said about the Technomate TM 2T

and for an interesting comparison- >>HERE<<'s what they said about the VU+Duo as it was being launched

and the VU+Duo didn't have 5 images at launch - (- they also didn't have the legacy of the 800 to get past- hence the delay & the 5 images)

Reading interesting conversation about technomate tm2t
I bought an original vu+duo about 9 month ago during time having it, came across too many problems I had no choice to coap with it memory leak was the biggest of all, Few days ago tuner a stopped working few days later tuner b now I am really upset ,dealer I boughtit from out of business, price of the mainbord too expensive, Now in the market to buy a latest Linux twin tuner round £200 ish mark, Reading about 2t also, download centre which has lots of helpful info about tm linux boxes caught my eye I do not know if I am allowed to write download centre link here which I found it is very helpful to linux hubbliest,My idea of choice gigablue, amiko.technomate tmtwin or 2t,extrend9200 confused between all of them.

I have one of these on order - The TM-2T OE model that is - have had a trusted Vu+ Duo for a while now, and think it is time for a change - wife is used to the ViX image so it hopefully will be a transition that is hardly noticed, apart from the space saving, and having to transfer 600 GB of recorded kids tv before I get rid of the Duo!

Seems that there is little said about these receivers at the moment, but that might change once I start messing with mine! It should arrive tomorrow I hope.

I noticed that, but there are a couple of reputable shops that stock this receiver, and with the support growing to the levels of the Gigablue, (ViX, OpenAAF etc) - they must have put a good few out in the hands of the developers quite quickly. I suppose with their poor reputation for E2 receivers at least, and the fact they are similar in specs to the Duo just as the next Gen Vu+ receivers are being released, means it is hard to see this being a big thing, but I can see that most of the few owners who are out there are loving the receiver.

Very please to read few posts to help me to decide which one to go for, reading few posts in different forums about Technomate 2t supported by 5 teams vix,openaaf,sif,hdfreex,4d and comparing to vu+ultimo which is about double the price of tm2t , but ,same image, same cpu even not as good because of few extra hardware like rf modulator which I like to use in my kitchen, extra 372 MB memory +extra 60MB of memory for booting also saving about £200+not paying for rf modulator ,for what I have read up to now tm2t is my best choice also better then vu ultimo leaves vu+duo behind low specification comparing to tm2t . Took me long time to save to buy vu+duo as its idle Brocken now,I do not want to have bed experience again, I do trust vix team developing image for tm2t is best for me as I am used to use it. By end of this week I will order tm2t.I think this will be good decision,

I was going to ask them about the TM-2T not being there, and will add that one now.:)

When I asked in the previous thread about using a Sky card in this machine the answer was to use Oscam to which my next question was "Oscam as in some sort of software emulation?" - is it, and if so how do you get it to use the Sky card?

This receiver works well, to the point where I will be letting my trusted Vu+ Duo go. It is supported well, and to answer the question about working with a sky card, this receiver - as can all receivers running Enigma, can emulate cams. Because it has a bm (broadcom mips) chipset (as opposed to sh4) can run both Oscam and CCcam (sh4 based would require the use of Oscam), and both are capable of allowing the use of many sub cards, including sky. Sky UK works best with Oscam.

To get Oscam to read the Sky card you need to place a reader entry in oscam.server for the internal reader that holds the sky card. This information is well documented - (getting oscam to read a sky card) in all specialist hobbyist forums.

And while I am here - a shout to pedro2000uk - you opened up a big new world to me after you installed that monstrosity to the back of my house a couple of years ago! Thanks:smashin:

muskogeek, my friend who set up my TM-2T also had a Vu+ duo, and after fitting my receiver for me, said he was going to sell his Duo, which he has now done. His family did not notice the difference in any of the use of the receiver with the same image, but he tells me the speed is amazing now. He tests new things, then helps me to update them onto my receiver, BBC iPlayer, ITV player, Icefilms, my channel numbering is identical to an official receiver, i can pause and record channels, i can record multiple channels, and i can watch a different channel on the laptop to whats on the TV, have a full TV guide and can make planned recordings from that

its one of the best pieces of entertainment technology i have ever owned

I was tossing up between tmtwin or tm2t, Finally ordered Technomate tmtwin on Friday last week got it this afternoon and start using it .
There were 2 reasons why I chose tmtwin –one to use my old 3.5 inch hard disk another to fill space of old vu+duo as it is a piece on junk doing nothing in my loft, it might stop the leak from the roof.
In Tmtwin 4d image was pre installed with motorised channel list/cccam2.1.1,it was ready to go so easy to use just adjust my longitude and latitude in uslas and here to go no more time wasting, feels good when everything's done for you, felt so easy first of all was so exciting as all functions was working, done my open EPG and picons saved on USB and used my 3.5 inch one TB hard disk installed all gone so good all gone so fast I really lost time..
Done few short recording ,play back, Live rewind few media players, all gone just wow,
After about hour and a bit I start installing few more plagins like bbci-itv players iptv plagins ,
It has just been exciting day so for as I can now use my twin input lnb record 6 channels and watch extra few channels same time,
No more nasty problem I had with my old junk, it has been good few last hours playing with it ,it has been solid like a rock no problem,
Let you know more findings.

My friend has just setup the new version of BBC iPlayer for me, It now has a small picture of the programmes available, synopsis, and the HD content is better quality from the streams. All I need now is 4OD and 5Demand and this will be perfect :) .

I mean to ask before - what does "channel numbering is identical to an official receiver" mean? -what channels and what official receiver?

There's a plugin called auto bouquets manager that creates bouquets with the same channel numbering as a Sky box.

So BBC1 on 101 etc.

So it's UK channels on a Sky receiver? Thanks.

Yes. Though it can be set up to do the same for some other European providers.

Thanks.
Another question- as I can't see any reference to the point, do they give the user Favourite channel options?

Hi, I am looking to buy one of these and from your comments I think I will take the plunge, but I've go a obstacle the other half not liking anything other than sky
so can I theme / skin the GUI to look like that of sky+. also how easy is the menu system is there a demo anywhere?

Is the hard drive connected via USB?

another to fill space of old vu+duo as it is a piece on junk doing nothing in my loft, it might stop the leak from the roof.

Assuming your Duo is not water damaged from your roof - are you selling it?

Where did you order it from?

Agree over 4OD and 5 Demand - Have you installed 1 Channel?

logiciel, you need to delete some PMs or get your bosses to increase your inbox size:laugh:

Thanks.

This is what your bouquet lists are. You can add your own folder, call it favourites (there is already one called favourites in my list), and add your favourite channels.

You access the bouquets by pressing the down button on your remote

All the channels from a scan are stored under the green button (satellites) and the blue button is favourites. You can press the menu button to bring up further options while you have a channel highlighted in these menus, and add, delete, etc to your bouquets. You can also use editor software and connect from your PC to the receiver.

We don't work for anyone around here;) - space made:thumbsup:.

I've come across that silly word bouquets in different contexts. Thanks for pointing out this one.

ABARKIE,

You welcome to buy my water Leak stopper,
Vu+duo stands for me as bellow
1-V= Very
2-U=unreliable
+
3-D=disaster
4-U-Un wanted
5-O-Obsolite,
=========================
You really better off to buy tmsingle or tm2t , if you still want to buy this obsolete Brocken box,
No water damage yet but 2 tuners are not working also when it was working I had to turn off from mains at least every 2 days otherwise memory leak took over,
This piece of junk cost me £349 about march last year inc, delivery you can buy it at £150 delivered to you in uk with 100% Big NO guarantee except 2 tuner all other parts working,
I learnt my lesson not to buy anything unless is uk supplier based with long record of stability that can give service if dealer goes bust, bought my tmtwin direct by mail from Technomate Edmonton London,
It has been few days since ,working very good no problem also has been on standby if I do not use it I have never turn it off from power yet
Been as good as gold installing my 3.5 inch hard disk internal with sata cable never missed any epg program recording which regularly was turned off by vu because of re booting
Which was after effect of memory leak ,picture quality is better also faster in All menu navigations with extra 3Gbit memory which is 372MB helps a lot to run plagins, streaming,
daily use also using bbc itv I player and 1-channel been running without any problem.
Now kids can watch different channel in their room with their pc using webif while leaving me alone.
Since last few days nothing to report except has been very good if any problem I will post it,

Remember your Protek Unixbox is a DM500 clone, HD receivers run Enigma 2 but all the basic features are the same.
