I have a TechniSat SkyStar 2 running free-to-air satellite TV on my computer. I now require a viewing card slot to decrypt some free-to-view channels. Is this possible? What additional hardware would I require?

AFAIK the SkyStar2 does not accept a CI (Common Interface) module, only the SkyStar1 and HD versions have this capability.
The SkyStar2 is a softcam only card
So, what you're asking can't be done with the card you have
