    Is HDTV a 24-bit (16.7 million colours) or a 30-bit* (1 billion colours) standard?

    * Where 30-bit is sometimes called 10-bit because it's ten bits for each of Red, Green, and Blue.

    It's based on MPEG which is 8 bit YCrCb method.
