Hi,Iam new to the world of home cinema.I need a bit of technical advice regarding speaker connections.I have the chance to buy a system which has an ouput for a rear centre. My problem is
running speaker wire to that position. Is there an issue with the system if I do not hook it up untill such times as I;am redecorating
    ??
Can you set up amplifiers telllingb them what spaekers are present???

May be stupid questions but as old proverb goes better being
a fool for a short time than one for life.

    Thanks

Not stupid questions at all. :)

Some (most?) amps allow you to specify what speakers are present beyond the standard L/R front ... you shouldn't have a problem leaving the amp unconnected, but if the amp doesn't allows speaker selection then just don't enable decoding such as DTS 6.1 which would try to generate a rear centre.

What amp. do you have the option of getting?

'Fraid I'm not at all qualified to recommend speakers  .. suggest you try the Speakers/Subwoofer forum, lots of expertise over there. :)

BTW, when I said don't select a decoder which generates a read-centre in the absence of said speaker, you'd not risk any damage to the amp, just you'd lose part of the soundtrack ... in case you were wondering. ;)
