Help me help a friend who is in the market for a new TV

She saw the TCL on AO.com and has asked my my thoughts.

Her budget is £500

My understanding is the TCL is an QLED screen but unsure what type is wide or small viewing angle

The TV will be placed next to a windows in the alcolve of a 1930s semi.

The only device connected will be a Sky Q box

So is the TCL a good option are is somithing better available at the price or can she save money and buy somit thats equivalent ie Hisence

QLED has nothing to do with the TV screen, but the method of lighting the screen from behind. Q stands for quantum dot, which is the type of LEDs the TV uses. All in all whether a TV uses QLED technology or not is a moot point, and isn't necessarily a good thing.

The TCL 7 series in the UK is a decent budget TV using a VA panel, but you are probably better off considering spending less, or going for the Hisense H8G instead. You can see all recommendations in the low tier section of this guide:

Make sure to take the time to understand panel differences. Most people choose a TV using a VA panel, but some people prefer IPS. Its important to make that decision before shopping for specific models.
