Does anyone know of any places in London or any websites that can put an audio tape onto CD? I have a treasured tape album - After Dark by Ray Parker Jr - which I bought many years ago. I don't think it was ever released on CD and the album has since been deleted from sale. I am desperately trying to get hold of it in CD format.

Even better, if anyone is aware of where I could get hold of this album on CD (I've tried just about everywhere - including second hand shops/websites) it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

Have you thought of just transferring the tape to the hard drive then burning it onto a CD yourself, or asking a mate if you do not have the facilities?

As Garrett says, try it yourself, it's easy enough, I've done quite a few for a mate of mine.

Just hook up your tape player to the line-in of your sound card, fiddle with the volume & other settings a bit, then record to wav, then burn to CD.

    Thanks for that guys.

Yeah, a mate of mine suggested doing exactly that for me as I don't have the know-how. I just wondered whether there were places that use different or more professional techniques which may help maintain quality better and achieve better noise reduction. Or would any so-called more professional outfit just do exactly as you've suggested?!

Whiting, you're a legend! I've been searching everywhere for the CD format.

I've just ordered it, so here's hoping it arrives...

Thanks again mate and thanks to Garrett and MikeyB for your helpful responses.

    A pleasure.

Gemm and Netsounds are always the best place to start hunting down old/rare/second-hand records.

If you're not successful with that order, field, try a re-search on Gemm -- there were a few more CD copies for about $35

Excellent. Netsounds are showing a copy available so I'll try them if Gemm is a no-go.

    Thanks again.

No mate but thanks for that. Sadly, Ghostbusters is what he's remembered for but he did far better stuff than that!

Actually so do I, but Huey Lewis didn't. Sued him for ripping-off one of his songs!
