I notice that it is possible now to have a library of tapes and contents. How does this work?
Is it stored in a memory on the recorder, or on each tape?
How do you record the data?

Another question is if a Nicam recorder does not have audio out phono sockets at the rear, will the A/O be available on the scart socket?
    Thanks

It's usually in non-volatile memory in the VCR - unless you have a HDD VCR, in which case most of them store thumbnail images on the HDD.

The stereo has been output via SCART on every NICAM VCR I've seen. Bear in mind that the audio level for SCART is a little lower than phono so if you are feeding it into an amplifier you will probably have to wind it up a bit compared to your other inputs.

Thanks, I did wonder beacause both my Nicam VCR's have phono out, the Sony VHS model only has one SCART socket. The JVC Super VHS has 2 SCART and S video in and out which needs separate audio, so has phono in and out as well.
I use them for recording audio mainly, but sometimes with video.
