Tannoy ts2.12 : White noise from subwoofer with no input

Novice Member

I just purchased a nearly new Tannoy ts2.12. When the sub is powered, with no inputs connected, and the crossover knob is turned high-enough, I can hear a white-noise emitting from the speakers. It almost sounds like wind. I've connected the sub electrically to more than once power-outlet and observed the same noise. Should I be hearing ANY noise from a large subwoofer, at any-time, with no audio connections?

Hi..it could be some interference with other electrical components i believe.. I had similar problems with my eltax ( yes eltax sub lol, no disrespect to eltax owners) many moons ago. Unfortunately I can't quite remember the remedy for it.

Ground loop. Does it sound like the wind howling a bit?
