Tannoy SFX Sub popping noise???

Hi,

I have the Tannoy SFX sub/sat system running through a Sony DA2400es receiver.

For some time now I have been getting a loud popping noise coming through the sub, it seems to happen randomly and there doesn’t appear to be anything that triggers it. I have tried moving the sub to a different location to rule out interference from my other kit, but it made no difference.

The noise also happens when the sub is on but not receiving a signal from the amp?

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this, or any solutions?

I don't have a solution unfortunately but I do have the exact same issue. Mine's connected to a Onyko and it's been doing it for the last 18 months! Like you I've tried changing the socket, disconnecting from the amp, I've tried changing extension leads, power leads, lead from the amp, but I think the issue is with the Sub itself. I would be grateful for a solution though, otherwise I think a new, non Tannoy sub is the only solution...

It's quite possibly the electronics inside the sub that have failed, possibly the capacitors have popped!
A decent electrical repair centre should be able to replace them and maybe not too costly ........just a guess though.
