it's a toss up whether the post should go here or in the special offers forum. Richers Sounds deal of the day tomorrow is the Tannoy RSub 15 at £149.99 which seems half the price of any where else - in store only

I was just about to post this :) There doesn’t seem much on these forums about this particular sub so is it any good, as it seems to be a stonking bargain. I will be using it with a Yamaha RX640 receiver together with AE Aegis speakers. Thanks.

Wow ...the price of this sub has really come down.

Anyone own one ? Would it be a valid replacement for a Mordaunt Short MS309 to match Mission M74i (since the latter ain't currently available in black)

I'd say try to get a demo before buying.

I can tell you that its the matching subwoofer for the Tannoy Revolution Series of loudspeaker, hence the RSUB bit.
I've owned a pair of Revolution R2's and was impressed for the short while I had them, so if the sub is of similar sound quality, I'd say it was a good buy at £150.

I was just to post a question to ask about this sub as I saw the RS site. Anyone got one? Any good? I know Richer Sounds are usually ok with returns but I'm guessing this thing is a bit heavy so will be a bit of a pain to return especially given I don't drive :)

If you compare the price with the usual RS price it is £143 cheaper. They're obviously desperate to get rid of some of these :)

My thoughts are buy this now, and might have an ok sub, or buy the MS309 later and almost definitely have a decent sub which isn't oversized.

It’s too late now but for future reference, print a copy of the advert and if the ‘deal of the day’ is not in stock they’ll give you a £10 voucher and will also order one for you at the discounted price (provided their warehouse has stock).

My mate went and got one yesterday - it's the size of a small house!! 20" x 20" x 20" so you'll need a decent space to put it in.

The sub is very well put together and has amazing amounts of low end grunt - apparently the output is 400w which aint suprising when you see the size of the thing. It keeps up with films (tried Gladiator and LORT2) very well and brings a new dimension to large scale fight scenes - this thing would be at home in your local UCI! As for music, it seems to cope well enough with some drum n bass, hip hop and even some old rock tunes.

For the price it is/was very good value - this used to retail at £700 so is a bargain at £150. If you didn't grab one first time around, it may be worth looking on ebay for someone trying to make a quick £50 - else wait, I can imagine Richer trying one last time to clear the rest of their stock at some point.
