SOLD my set of Tannoy Mercury Custom F1 and F4 speakers and a Sony AV amp to drive them.

    System consists of:

2x Tannoy Mercury Custom F4 Floorstanders.
2x Tannoy Mercury Custom F1 Bookshelf rear speakers.
1x Tannoy Mercury Custom Centre Speaker.
    1x Sony STG DG820 7.1 AV Amp.

All in good used condition, bought new by me and used for a few years but not to a great extent!

I don't have a sub and have not used one with this set up - with the Floorstanders you really don't need one IMO, they drop deep and hard and explosions etc sound rich and full.

A great Home Cinema System at a bargain price, you won't get more performance for less money!

    Sold Sold Sold.

Would you consider posting the floorstands and selling them separately

I don't really want to break up this system at this point. It works really well together and I think it's a nice set up, plus if I sell the floorstanders separate I'll never shift the Centres and bookshelves on their own!

If no-one wants it whole, I might consider it, but not just yet. Thanks for looking though!

Well it was worth a shot, no bother I'm sure someone will have the set off you in no time, they are priced very well, and if I was in the market for a full set I'd have had them in a heartbeat

    good luck with the sale!

    Hi there,

How much for the speakers alone, please? I don't need the AVR, as I have my Onkyo

    Hi again,

Are you currently Bi-Amping the fronts? I take it you have your AVR set to "full range", or equivalent, seeing as you're not using the sub channel?

Out of interest, do you notice the lack of LFE when just using the system in 5.0 mode, for movies, etc?
SWMBO has been unhappy about my 5.1 setup almost since I got it, because the sub is "ugly and unsightly" :p so this might earn me a few brownie points, in that department. ;)

No, I didn't bi-amp the fronts. If I recall correctly the Sony AV amp wasn't capable of it... or I just didn't take the time to work it out. But they have the jumpers still in place and they can be bi-amped if you like. The amp was in 5.0 full range and just sent the sub channel to the Front L+R channel for them to play with.

I didn't ever miss not having a Sub. I do know what a sub can do, and I know that they really do have the extension that Floorstanders alone will lack. But these drop plenty low and hard, and will still rattle windows and thump you in the chest, settings and film permitting! Modern Warfare or Battlefield 3 on 'War mode' sound effects were particularly visceral! I never found this set up lacking.

It's a personal thing, but I honestly don't think you need a Sub in 90% of home set ups. If you've got a huge house and a cinema room, sure, but otherwise it spends more time annoying the neighbours (or your wife!) than it does adding to your film experience.

    Just my two cents.

Anyway, let me know if you're interested, offer of delivery for the right price is still there.

I'm interested in the Amp , does it have an auto setup mic, and can it do audio/video through the hdmi when in standby?

    Many thanks

    Hi There!

I have the set up mic, but as far as I'm aware the Amp cannot pass through HDMI when in standby, because it's digitally switched. I never really noticed because between my Sony TV and PS3, it powered up automatically with Sony's system link.

Full manual with functionality explained is here.

Let me know if you're interested, cheers.

    Hi Cactus,

If you're willing to pay cash on collection or by bank transfer (to be cleared before collection) then I'll happily take £250 for the lot.

I'm away until Sunday evening now, so I've pm'd you my mobile number to complete.

    Cheers!
