The M1 is replaced by the MX1 now, it's a budget speaker with vinyl wrapping.
The R1 is real wood or real wood finish, can't remember but it makes a difference in the price as you see.

Please do me a favour and switch off your CAPS.
This is considered shouting and therefore rude. Thanks!

Vinyl wrapping is a cheap way of coating the speaker in different colors.
On the Mercury series the wrapping was actually pretty poor (in terms of craftmanship).
I think that has been improved for the Mx series (still vinly wrapping though).

The Revolution series is either "wrapped" in real wood (a very thin layer of wood glued onto the MDF) or made of real wood (i.e. solid wood).
Craftmanship is not that good either, just saw a few pairs at an exhibition and the edges showed quite some flaws.

You get what you pay for .... ;)

For the rears I would either take matching speakers, if not because too expensive some M(x)1 will certainly do.
Or consider di/bipoles, like Mission 77DS.

Were you considering the M1's as your rears?

    Well they'll be excellent ones.
The new MX1 is not as good as the old M1.
Teh old M1s is good enough as stereo speakers, while the Mx1 is made speacially for being rears.

Tan, I think you confuse the Mx1 with the MR, the MR are made specifically as rear speakers and are very small.

I still rekon to either match the rears to the front (R1 in this case?) or go for the Mx1.
