Tannoy Arena or Mercury V1 for fronts

Established Member
I am looking for minimalistic looking bookshelf fronts for my Pioneer KRP-500M and VSX-LX90.

I have always liked the the look and sound of the Tannoy Arena setup but I have only heard them as a complete 5.1 setup.

As far as bookshelf stereo speakers are concerned, how are they compared to something like the Mercury V1's for just the fronts with no sub?

I can get the 2 Arena satellites for 300 GBP from Audio Affair but am a concerned that they might sound horrible with no sub for music, tv and movies.

Am I better off with something like the Mercury V1 or something else?
