    Hi,

I have my Tannoy 625 ALFie sub and am considering upgrading it

    My kit is
    Pioneer DVD 656 Player
    Sony 930 AV Amp
    B&W DM 604 Floorstanders
    B&W DM602 Rears
    B&W LCR60 Centre
    Panasonic 32 PB50 Tv

Should I go for the B&W Sub or Velodyne or a REL or stick with my Tannoy.
It's an oldie - but a goodie. Has anyone heard it? There's not much on the internet about this sub.

    Any advice appreciated.

I've never heard of your current sub but even so Tannoy have never been reknowned for their subwoofers.

You list four manufacturers and ask whether you should go with them but each manufacturer has a large range to suit all pockets and you didn't indicate how deep your pockets were.

Give us an indication of budget and any other important requirements and we will do what we can to help you spend your cash

    Around £600.

I would use my system for 75% movies 25% hifi

The 604's are certainly bass-ey enough for music without a sub - so when considering subs should I go for a sub purely considering its ability for movies?

You should be looking for a sub that goes deep enough to add impact to movies but also has the speed and timing to keep up with music.

The B&W ASW675 should be on your short list to audition plus maybe something from the MJ Acoustics range

    Thanks for that Ian.
I have already listened to the B&W sub - but didn't like it for music!
I prefered the 604's on their own! But it did help on movies!
