Having played waw for quite a while now, i have to say the tanks really spoil the whole thing.Played with 3 lads from work who have never played cod before and within a few games they were moaning like hell.Skill lacking kills from inside and they can take far too much damage before being destroyed.Personally i feel they are the worst addition to any of the cod series. .No doubt tanks were added just to be different and add a little something.Such a shame because i love this game.:thumbsdow:thumbsdow:thumbsdow

I'm also not too keen on them.

Here is hoping Infinity Ward don't go with them or vehicles in general for MW2 ! pretty please Mr. IW

I don't mind the tanks, quite enjoy playing them and they are easy enough to destroy with satchels and a touch of luck.

I would however like to see an option for a tank free playlist.

I don't think anyone is keen on them when they get blasted to bits.
Satchels & sticky bombs take care of them nicely and it can be great fun running around with extreme conditioning blowing up tanks.

Only once or twice in HC.

I'm a bit of a HC TDM whoore so would like to see how some of the large levels played without tanks (i'm guessing they would turn into campfests) and would also like to have the option of not flicking to my tank killing classes every few games.

I don't even have a tank killing class or equip satchels or rockets .... just try and avoid them.

It's fairly easy to do so on all levels but Downfall .... hate that map generally anyway, seems to be the most skipped map on the time I've spent with WaW so far.

I quite like downfall when you have satchels, makes for some good tank hunting, as there are quite a few narrow alleys which the tanks go down and loads of places to hide then run out with satchels flying.

Yeah it does seem the easiest map for possibly taking them down.

Seelow however is not from my limited experience. :D

Seelow is ok at the end with the water tower and all the long hay stuff as you can sneak up in that and use the middle building as cover. The other end is much harder though.

Just a newbie game player here!

I've reached as far as the first lot of tanks and I'm stuck.

I've found the bazooka but I'm struggling to target with them. Seem to hit them but I haven't managed to destroy one yet.

I haven't mastered all the controls yet. Am I missing something else?

You need to throw 2 satchel charges onto the back of the tank and then throw a sticky grenade on the back which will blow a tank up first time!

if yer can throw two, if youve thrown 2 and you have your primary weapon you can double tap x and it will charge both the satchels so yer can still defend yer self with yer primary weapon and blow a tank at the same time, easier said than done tho lol :D

Are you referring to the campaign missions?

Aim for the rear of the tank with the bazooka, should take 3/4 shots :smashin:

Throw them both at the same time and then equip your weapon and double tap 'X' to explode them.

If you have a sticky grenade, throw both satchel charges on the back of the tank and then throw the sticky grenade on/near the satchel charges and when the grenade blows up, it will blow up the satchel charges with it and will destroy the tank in one hit! :smashin:

See I don't know why people dislike the tanks in COD5.
I know we are only talking about a game here but in real like a tank is/would be something infantry would approach/avoid with caution. I mean its a 30+ tons of armour death on tracks

If the game let you just empty a clip into it and in blew up then that would totally unrealistic.
I approach tanks with care i.e. I keep away from then unless I have satchel charges or bazookas.
In fact I find I die quite often in a tank as you tend to have alot of the enemies attention focusing on you.
So I like the tanks and think they make a good addition.

I'd throw one satchel, detonate, throw another then detonate again with fireworks that will take the tanks out but i like throwing a molotov on a tank it does nothing but is funny.

My original point regarding tanks was how they were added to waw purely to be different from the other cods.In the main campaign 2 bazookas destroyed a tank so why in multi-player does it take 3+.In my opinion they add nothing to the online side and sometimes turn games into a stalemate. On the games that feature tanks look how many times your team does not achieve the score limit.I have seen deathmatches won with 200 points. On seelow for example if 2 of the enemy are tanked up that leaves 4 player to find in massive map.At worst there should be a tankless mode in all game types.

One molotov the main body of the tank turns the health meter from clear to yellow so it does a fair bit:thumbsup:

Some excellent points here, totally agree with there should be options for a tankless game. (other than just S&D as someone has already stated)

I also don't like the way most people have achieved their best killstreak in a tank, to me that's not a proper killstreak in the true sense that they were in CoD4.

Kind of agree here, I know my biggest killstreak (28 I think) was using a tank (much pleasure gained, back in the day, blowing up glitchers trying to get into the wall on roundhouse). I'm pretty sure my non tank killstreak is much lower (around 15-20).

I would have liked to have seen a seperate killstreak for tanks and otherwise, but i reckon it would be too hard to do as some killstreaks can involve both running around shooting and jumping into a tank.

My best is 28 kill streak on Courtyard!

It was just one of those games where every thing you aim at dies. I had to pick up so many peoples dropped weapons to survive that long.

    Felt good too! :smashin:

Well done mate, that's impressive without a tank. Alway's gives a good rush when you have a great game.

Edit: Just checked mine on the COD site and my killstreak is 27 not 28, so 28 without a tank looks even better.

I reckon quite a lot of peoples highest kill streaks will be with tanks.
