I just wondered if anyone had a copy of the Tamron 28-300mm XR Di or had tried it and what they think of it. I am looking at an all in one type zoom for my Sony A300. I have found that in this very cold weather changing lenses with my Rheumatoid Arthritis is a big problem, so I thought something like this could be the awnser, as I have seen a used one at what I think is a decent price.
    Look forward to your comments

    Ahoy!

I haven't checked myself, but have you read any reviews on Dyxum.com? 1st port of call. Ought to give you enough feedback to make an informed decision.

I had a look Pirate and it gets an overall 4.12 but only from 6 reviews. The professional reviews are a bit of a mixed bag. So knowing you all tell it like it is I thought maybe someone could give their opinion!! :)
    Thanks!

I've read some decent reviews of the VC version (but its not cheap), iirc the non-VC is soft at 200mm and above which kinda defeats the object....

Reading round a bit more seems to suggest that results can vary from lens to lens. Unfortunately the shop with the lens is to far away for me to go and try it.
Some more thinking to be done!

Hello Marcia I recently bought a secondhand Sigma 28-300 hyperzoom lens off of evilbay for £108 and am very pleased with it. Very useful ranges with my A100 and saves all the changing of lenses as you quite rightly point out :smashin:

    Thanks Springers!
That was the other lens I was thinking about.
Is it the Sigma - 28-300 F3.5-6.3 DL Aspherical IF Hyperzoom or one of the newer ones?
It's nice to hear that the range really does prove useful and you are pleased with it! I am going round in circles reading the Dyxum site and reviews of these things! That's why I asked here for the opinions of people who I have become familiar with and have had advice from!
    Thank you again Springers!
Paul, the Tamron I was talking about is not the VC version, and is being advertised at £149 which seems reasonable, and is about as much as I can afford!! ;) as the price new is about £249!
More thinking to be done on the matter....
    Thank you both
    Marcia
