    Hiya..
I recently got Fear Of Music in the remastered CD/DVD format, and I excitedly put the DVD-Audio disc into my player... And it won't work!

The bonus videos work, but when I try to play any of the DVD-A tracks, the title page shows up on the screen and my player hangs. It won't eject, it won't switch off..nothing. I have to turn it off at the wall!

I got Remain In Light this morning, and it's the same.

My player is the Yamaha DVD-S657. I suspect it's the player, but then again it plays Dar Williams' DVD-Audio disc fine..

I'm pretty gutted - I don't know if anyone else has these discs and can tell me their experiences? I'm tempted to sell the Yamaha and get another player that's more compatible - if that's what the problem is!

    Cheers,

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

I have both these discs and they play fine on my Denon DV2200.

    Cheers,
    Steve

Is it the DVD-A track that you are playing or possibly the DTS/DD5.1 that most of these discs also have on them? It might be that the Dar Williams has these alternatives and the Fear of Music hasn't? As I don't have either of these discs I can't answer that question, closer investigation might be what you need to do?

I'll look into that Bobdk. I thought DVD-Audio always came in 5.1 though - but worth an examination of the disc anyway. Cheers for the reply.

DVD-A does come in 5.1 but they normally include either or both DTS/DD on the discs for the people who haven't got the correct equipment to play DVD-A. SACD's have a similar arrangement, as most are Hybrids, where people without SACD capability can play the discs in standard stereo.

You can get Talking heads on DVD-A ohh cool. Where can these be picked up?

You can buy them separately right? Pity "Stop Making Sense" isn't included or was that a greatest hits?

    Thanks guys.

Which DVD-A has the most "stop making sense" material? I'd only like to buy the 1 for starters.

Good, much better than those silly DualDiscs America got.

Well it is a live album.....

If you are talking (heeads) about the individual tracks you'll have to go through them and see what's from what

The stuff is all pre Little Creatures if that helps

The DVD-A with the most 'Stop making sense' material would be 'Speaking in tongues'.

Thanks for the heads up on these. I only want one album (I'm quite happy with the vinyl versions) but that's on at play.

Oh, one thing though, are the DVD-A's in hi-res stereo or just 5.1?
