    Hi,

I'm about to take the plunge on this Phillips 30PF9975. Please could someone offer any criticism or advice (or alternatives that are better than this one).

The only thing is it doesn't have on-screen menus, which shouldn't be a problem (I think), but would appreciate any comments.

    Thanks,
    S

Have a look at the 32" Panny Veira LCD and the 32" JVC before you spend your hard earned.

Thanks very much for your responses.

I seem to like the Philips 32PF9986. The connectivity and sound is not as highly regarded as the 30" (check comet.co.uk) but I guess there is nothing a sub and some speakers can't cure. The picture I guess from the advances in tech is much better, even though the 30" version is great.

HornyDragon, no offence but I just prefer the Phillips as they have been known to make very good LCD's lately.

The table stand from Electrical Discount UK looks awesome with this Philips 32PF9986.
Thanks JDL, I think you may have just changed my mind, and the missus says she likes the looks.

Any further comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi...

Just wondering if anyone own a Phillips 32PF9986. I heard they were recalled due to some faults, so I guess the new ones available are the relaunched LCD's, which I gather have not got the problem anymore. Please correct if I'm wrong.....

Do you know of any other problems experienced with these and if the bulb(s) can be changed like on the Sharp LCD's?

I had this set for a month then Philips took it back to fix the problem with the ampilight.
The blacks are 0.2 nits, 0 is the perfect black, imagine that the Pioneer 434 HDE plasma has 0.6.
No smearing on fast moving and no tearing, great performance it will remind you that this is a CRT and not an LCD.
You cannot change the lamp. :hiya:

I've also decided I'm going to get the stand that comes with it as it looks stunning.

I am sure you will enjoy this fine tv, anything you want just ask.
I ordered the 37pf9986 because the 32 was a little bit small for my space it should be available at the end of the month, can't wait. :smashin:
