    here's the link

although it doesnt say its the extended unrated edition in the title, it does say so in the review section, as below

Angelina Jolie, Ethan Hawke and Kiefer Sutherland star in this psychological thriller from director DJ Caruso that arrives on DVD via this extended version, released exclusively to home video and not shown in theatres, containing even more shocks and thrills than the original

    Ordered one of these. :)

The running time is also the same as the extended version, so I think it's safe to say it is it.

Is this movie any good, I heard it was crap?

Although it has got Angelina Jolie in the nude, may be worth buying just for that...

It's ok, Angelina reprises her "Bone Collector" character a bit too much in some ways and the ending is dire, but there are a LOT of worse movies out there.

If you are buying it just for Angelina/Flesh reasons, go buy Gia, a way better movie.

Having received this today, I have to say it's an odd disc. It's R2, PAL and has no foreign writing anywhere on it. It also only has English subtitles and and English soundtrack. Yet there's no BBFC logo anywhere on the packaging, or any other ratings dialogue for that matter -- there's just an empty space where it should be. No idea where the disc comes from... there's nothing that to identify it.

Can also confirm that it is the extended version.

It's R0 UK then, otherwise it would have the BBFC certification.

Just watched this film[the directors cut] and have to say the director should have cut it up and thrown it in the bin.

No, it's R2 as I checked. Even if it was R0 that doesn't mean it wouldn't have a BBFC certificate. ALL DVDs sold in the UK have to have a BBFC certificate... much of Tartan's range is R0, for example, yet certified. It'd be illegal to sell the disc I received in the UK as it is.

Got mocked at work for suggesting this film was rubbish but this was from the same people who think red dragon is better than manhunter. No accounting for bad taste i suppose.

If it's got no BBFC logo on it, is it a proper copy or a pirate?

hmm maybe instead of all this guesswork, we could e-mail cd-wow and ask them about the dvd? they're usually pretty helpful, they may well be a perfectly rational explanation.

here we go, i took my own advice and e-mailed cd-wow with the following message:

    Dear CD-WOW,
Please could you give me some information regarding the Region 2 DVD of Taking Lives you are currently stocking (http://www6.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2.php?product_code=13204&subcat=region2)
I, and a few friends have bought this DVD but despite having the same barcode as the Region 2 DVD, the packaging is different, and does not contain any BBFC certification logos. The contents of the DVD are fine so this is not a complaint, but if you could please tell me which country this DVD is from, or why the packaging is different i would be most grateful.
    Kind regards
    Marc Doyle
