If anyone hasn't seen this yet give it a go

Crazy Japanese couples play an it's a knockout on acid competition. Craig Charles does the voice over

Funiest one I have seen so far is the rope swing onto the velcro wall

    It is on Challenge

it's presented by 'Beat' Takeshi Kitano isn't it?

I didn't think that international king of sports thing was for real... European run round in circle gold medalist?! what the fudge!

Takeshi Castle is great entertainment as it perpetuate a favourite tradition of the UK, IE laughing at foreigners

Craig Charles provides a suitable xenophobic narrative. The background music is often an "elevator" version of the theme from Enter The Dragon.

My son who is 11 also likes it.

Does anyone know how many of these shows have been bought by challenge tv? It just seems now that I am watching programmes that have already been aired.Has anyone noticed that Craig Charles is reading from a script on his voiceovers? He often tells you what's gonna happen before it does!
Lastly, what the hell is the ending all about?

This current series is the second and it consists of 40 shows. Craig Charles is good but tends to repeat himself alot. I've lost count of the number of times he's asked 'if one syncronised swimmer drowns do they all have to.'

Does anyone know what nationality Animal is?

Has anyone ever seen the contestants win it?

    Guys,
I too love this programme. In Japan at the mo on business and brought this subject up while enjoying some beers with Japanese collegues last night.
They told me that it finished broadcasting here over two years ago so the run on Challenge TV will not go on forever I am afraid.
They havnt got a clue about the ending either...bit like their films then...totally wacky.
There is no direct replacement of the same type (i.e. nutty Japanese people getting hurt in the name of entertainment). This was all the rage especially with Endurance program as seen on Tarrant on TV but Japanese tastes have changed (like their gadgets) and they now prefer ,on TV, Japanese pop stars who dye their hair funny colours, David Beckham, entertainment shows where 3 to 5 people sit around and chat about nothing in particular, David Beckham and bloody cookery programs!

I think Animal is English: I'm sure one episode talks about him coming from the West Country? They all look like him down there!:D

I've never seen anyone win it, but I'd love to buy one of their little cars for commuting into town...

My favourite is the tug of war, where they don't know what they're competing against: a tiny woman, a cow that's been spanked on the bum, or a bulldozer! Marvellous!

i love the one where they have to dive full pelt at a door from a choice of 5, trouble is only 1 is fake.

some of the new ones are pretty funny too

I was reading someone that the bloke that devised the series did another one where they dressed a mini as a bull and had it chasing contestants in a wacky bullfighting game.

There was another team game one where the two teams are in buses suspendend over a lake, guess what happens to the losing team

    the bloke is a nutter

    Just discovered this...

I almost choked I was laughing so hard.... "High Rollers" is my favourite at the moment, the contestants have to negotiate several large freely-rotating cylinders (a bit like log-rolling). They get tossed about like rag dolls! Craig Charles keeps saying "that lad almost split in half!"

This is currently my favourite show on tv - it just cracks me up. High Rollers is the best game followed by the one on the bridge where they have to carry a gold ball across while having balls fired at them!!!:D

My favourite is the Super Mario mickey take.....

I also like the ten pin bowling.... something about watching people unable to move being hit by a large heavy moving object. The expression of fear on the face is excellent!

In a similar vein... have you tried Ninja Warrior on Challenge.

It's more physical then wacky, but it still good.

Typical Saturday/Sunday morning viewing for me. Get up get myself some cereal and watch whilst chuckling to myself.

It's been on Virgin 1 for a while now.

My favourites would be Wipeout (jump onto a surfboard that's rotating and jump over some dodgy looking Whales to get to the end platform) and the Boulder game (i.e. avoid boulders rolling down a hill at you.)

They've added a few new ones recently that also tickle my fancy - cram yourself into a plastic ball and play a human form of pinball.

and a game where you have to dive to catch a ball in a bucket as it appears over a ledge above you. Obviously they get them to dive into some horrible looking mud just to spice it up. :)

Edit: Oooops - looks like some Post necromancy has been going on here.

reviving an old thread a bit this isn't it?!

    oh yeah, the necromancy

While we're on the subject, did anyone catch MXC (most extreme elimination challenge!) when it was on Challenge?

Basically an American take on the same program. Same Takeshi's castle program, but dubbed over as if there are two teams competing to 'win' Takeshi's castle. Absolutely magic, much better than our UK version.

Just realised they made a 3rd series that I had no knowledge of. Sweet

I've seen them win it once. There were just lots of fireworks and Craig Charles went from a 4 to a 5 on the excited scale. Then it ended. Really wasn't worth waiting for
