Mine has zero defects. But if you expect that, you can only be disappointed.

No. There have been one or two reported DP's but most are fine.

Well it arrived on Friday as planned - all set up nicely... :smashin:

Unfortunatly there is one dead pixel 8 inches from the right and 3 inches up - I think i will live with it as its not worth the agro of packing it up and sending it back. What would everyone else do? Its not visible when watching TV. The software version is 2.3 too!

Just need to go a buy a nice glass AV stand i think.

Oh and where can I find this secret menu i have read about and what does it do?

v2.3!!! Are you sure? Punch in 062596 then the i+ key. This is the service menu. You can check all sorts in here. If it is v2.3 then I'd be interested in the firmware reg date. The 2.2 was Oct 04.

I have the Kenmark glass stand which is, in my opinion, superior quality to the Alphason and optimum stands. It is 1100mm wide with three shelves...and, wait for it, it's only £99 in Index!!! A third of the price of an Alphason. Bargainsville United!

Get back to us with the info on the Firmware.

    Jimmy,

    Rom Version: Jan 18 2005 TX21EV-2.3_08781

Can I do anything good in that menu or will I just break the TV?

Could you also do me a massive favour Jimmy? Could you measure the distance between the shelves on your stand and are they adjustable in height?

    Thanks
    Phill

There is one wee adjustment that helps with non-RGB (RF) pictures.Find the Luma Gain in the General bit and pop it down to 0. Blackens the blacks slightly.

Gap between Bottom and middle shelf = 190mm. Gap between middle and top shelf 200mm.

So you now officially have the newest 9986 on the forum - Jan 2005! No idea what the v2.3 has over the others, but keep us up to date with it's performance. Is it buzz free?

    Cheers Jimmy

There is a slight tizzz from the Ambilight but you have to have your head over the TV to hear it!

Unfortunatly that cabinet doesnt have the needed dimensions - i need 23-30cm on the bottom shelf and at least 18cm on the top shelf.

Why do you need 30cm on the bottom? Keep in mind that this unit allows you to place standard sized AV units side by side on the shelves with room to spare! You can get masses of kit on...

Yep, I got the last one, as soon as I perchased it at £1899 the price shot up - but I have noticed that everyone has put their price up for this set! So I got lucky
