I think you need to be very careful of unsolicited emails from ebay, and they do warn users about such things.

Having said that, you have an address etc on the vendor, and you may be able to verify that, and you would also need to get the serial numbers(if he's in any way legitimate he should give those)and check them with IAG against known stolen stock, and also for exactly what each model should be.

Most of it looks genuine, given the detail etc and offer of inspection....just be very careful, and maybe ask to view the goods at his place.

When I was bidding on several items I received these messages for each (just with the item changed) so clearly they're automatically generated and are a scam. Steer well clear!

I just put that postcode into the applegate business search engine and it covers the Strawberry Lane Industrial Estate in wolverhampton. Seems to be full of ironmungers and the like so maybe they've progressed from making horse shoes and have hammered up some nice cast iron AV32DP's! ;-)

AllanG, this is not unusual, it is happening very often. Only these ebay cons are so obvious that it is hardly possible someone will fall on.

just taka a look these two auctions overseas:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14973&item=5709954027&rd=1

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=67786&item=5708817137&rd=1

Someone without any feedback simply copies sevenoaks auctions to the last word and inserts it in the states.

    Ridiculous!

    ________

UrbanT, I saw you winning that 2k auction, how much did you actually bid (two highest bids were from you)?

    ________

I held my nerve and put in £2100 about 25 seconds before the end. That was my absolute limit, and I had honestly believed it would go for around £2500.

As for the fraud, I've reported dozens of fraud Tag Mclaren and B&W speaker auctions recently. Try emailing them. The response you get back is in pigeon english, its quite hilarious. Ask them difficult questions like, 'I'm coming to your country and want to collect', or 'why will you only post abroad'. I just hope people don't fall for this stuff.

Yup, I was the lucky buyer on ebay of the dual processor. Lucky I never intended on buying it.... this is about the 5th Tag dvd or processor that I have managed to not buy on ebay - but six months ago I did buy a DVD32r on there which has since been upgraded and is preforming very well.

    Hi,

I have just joined this forum for only one purpose. I have an AV32r processor for sale.

I noticed your thread about being contacted after recently trying to bid on Ebay for the device. This is a genuine offer, I won it in a competition back in 1999 ( Maxim Mag ) still have the winning letter from Maxim as proof.

It also came with TMA phono cables worth £300

Through personal issues, divorce etc I haven't used it at all. I now have 3 kids and can't really see myself getting round to using it.

It's brand new, still in it's box all the pieces are there even the small tie pin you get ! If you or anyone are interested in making this purchase please contact me on the following details :

Be very careful Mike, at least because of two reasons:
    1. you are seriously endangering my claims that all competitions are fake :D :)
    2. you are breaking forum rules, there is special sales area on this forum and no traiding outside this area is allowed
