TAG are planning to introduce an upgrade to the DVD32R to include (amongst other stuff) progressive scan. I use this player with a 42” Panasonic D3 plasma screen, so does anyone have a view whether I’d see any benefit from introducing a third party deinterlacer / scaler ahead of the TAG upgrade?

Until we see the final product if is difficult to say, however Tag are not given to producing crap products so I feel that an external scaler is superfluous, if addition scaling is needed (as in my case) I have high hope for the internal scaler to be built into AV192R which will scaler the progressive in put from the DVD192R (or any other interlaced signal like video, tv, satellite etc). External scalers will introduce additional a/d and d/a conversion. This is what you want to avaoid.
