We had some of these at work so having heard good things about them, i thought i'd see if it did anything for my KRP-500A picture.

Well, it certainly affects it, but not in a good way!
It adds a layer of darkness to the picture which completely destroys most shadow detail. The Dark Knight and Hellboy just become a black mess. Adjusting the brightness and contrast don't help. Strangely according to my meter and calibration disc, black levels weren't being crushed and light output was the same. Even by eye there was no difference. However when watching proper material shadow detail below 1% IRE was just not there.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I use one of these with my gear, but to be honest I haven't noticed this. Then again, I haven't used the TV with any other mains block to make a comparison.

I need another actually, and will probably go for a Belkin this time (8 way), so I'll be able to make a comparison then.
