Question Tablet with HDMI INPUT or HDMI to USB convertor?

I have what maybe an unusual requirement:

1. A tablet, either a Windows based one on which I can install Xubuntu, or Linux with Windows on a VirtualBox
AND
2. It must have HDMI input in some manner.
3. It does not need to have a keyboard.
4. I don't need gaming speed.

Why?

1. I prefer Linux over Windows
2. I must have Internet Explorer for banking
3.I have a Samsung Galaxy s8 and a Samsung DEX able to output HDMI transforming the phone into a portable PC.
4. I have a Bluetooth keyboard.

So, effectively I need a tablet which can also be an HDMI input monitor for use when travelling where hotel TVs do not have HDMI input.

Is there such a thing? can I 'make' such a thing?

Why is that out of interest? It seems a very useful feature, im surprised someone hasn't done it just to be different to the rest

Like when I thought of having laptops with removable screens...............................................now we have them!

Phones are now capable mini computers and there WILL be a need for a combo tablet/monitor, you see!

HD material

You are saying that manufacturers will never make such a thing because it could be used to copy the HDMI input?

But there are so many gadgets available today for that if one is so inclined. All I ask is an add on monitor to view my phone output :-(

It WILL come.

Then I would need to carry an extra item and it's power supply which maybe not be needed in a lot of accommodation with HDMI TVs.

On that note you can buy cheap projectors on amazon with a hdmi in. Also battery powered ones.

I don't know why you're dubious about this, it's nothing new - HDCP makes HDMI capture on computer devices a headache (many capture devices won't support HDCP at all and DEX requires it) and more simply there's not much of a market for it. There are small monitors that have been on the go for a while but the market is already small for them and the market for something specialised is clearly even smaller, most people would just use the tablet directly. Archos used to produce devices similar to what you've requested years ago (mobile tablet like devices with AV-in) but they were never big sellers and long since dead.

A laptop with a removable screen, to put it mildly is hardly a unique idea no-one else thought of nor anything particularly unusual.
