T3 to have DTS?!
I bet the Yanks are spitting feathers over this one! They only get a Dolby Digital 5.1 track!
Wow! Region 2 gets DTS tracks on T3, Pirates of the Caribbean and Hulk, and Region 1 doesn't.
This is another R2 Disc to get DTS when R1 doesnt, Signs, Pirates of the Carribean).
Is this a weird ploy to get us to buy R2 instead of R1?
Still top news though.
but will the r2 versions of said movies be cut?hope not.
Is the R1 version in DD 5.1 EX?
And will the R2 version have DD 5.1 EX and DTS?
If I had the choice over US DD 5.1 EX or the UK STD 5.1 and DTS I'd take the US version!
I'm considering going for the Jap R2 version to avoid any BBFC cuts & the 4% Pal Speed up!
You just know that this title will be released over & over again with directors cut/Ultimate Ed/Extreme Ed etc, etc. The big question is to buy or wait for a exstended edition. I enjoyed T3 at the cinema, but personally thought the film should of concentrated more on developing the charactors.
I was just gonna say that according to play.com, POTC has DTS.
They're taking the ****. I wouldn't mind if they got rid of the 4% speedup... so i'll be getting the R1 version.
You people and your 4% speed up...I tell ya, you people must have more ears than a cow's got gash. How you can hear 4% speed up without running the 2 films together at the same time is beyond me...
Aren't all discs pitch corrected these days anyway...just something I heard on the grapevine...not confirmed...
My ears must be finely tuned, because I can hear it! Honest!
But how? How do you know that what you are hearing isn't what you are supposed to hear??
Do you buy R1 and R2 versions of discs to see which and which haven't been pitch corrected?
How do you know...?
I think you have convinced youreself that what you are hearing is 4% faster TBH...I'm gonna run a poll on it...
thanks for the heads up
dts is always nice to have...
as you say popeye, this is most definately gonna be in the running for the most 'editions' lol. ideally i'd like to wait for the inevitable trilogy boxset but as i already have the other two then i might as well go ahead and get it
[oh, and thanks for mentioning pirates having dts over here...didn't realise. loved the movie can't wait for its release]
The fact is that because some people know there is 4% speed up they can hear it. 95% of the time I'm oblivious to it, but that doesn't mean it is not there. But PAL has higher resolution and now we seem to be getting DTS more often than the yanks.
I prefer PAL to NTSC, but not by that much. If the film is cut, then it will be the R1 for me
army bloke thanks for cheering me up with this comment"you people must have more ears than a cow's got gash. "havnt laughed so hard since the toilet scene in dumb and dumber, cheers
You're welcome...just a little phrase that I use most days...though I inserted the word "gash" in place of the word that's supposed to be there...but it has 4 letters and means the same thing...
Why the hell should the BBFC cut the dvd releases???
This is something that I still haven't figured out... I was going to post on this point a little while ago, but forgot.
R2 Matrix has a couple of cuts for headbutts, but a few weeks back I was watching Cliff Hanger on TV and the headbutt in a fight scene was there.
So how come a headbutt on TV is OK, but on a DVD it isn't?
In answer to the first part of your question. When listening to a Pal disc soundtrack your certainly not hearing the film at the correct speed/pitch as in theatres or as the director intended.
I do not tend to do side by side comparisons, because most of the discs I buy tend to be region 1 and it seems pointless to buy a film twice.
I can hear the speed up mostly in the dialog. Actors voices who are well known to us appear slightly higher pitched. Soundtracks also appear fast. I tend to listen to alot of film soundtracks scores and when I hear them on a Pal disc they can sometimes appear to be running slightly faster than they should.
In truth it's a nit picking point, however I've shelled out alot of money on my AV equipment like many on this forum in an attempt to reproduce as close as possible a films soundtrack to that of its theatrical release. I guess I'm a purist!
Any way I have to go now, I'm off to cast my vote!
Reply moved to the PAL Speed up poll.
because the BBFC doesn`t control what is on TV but only what appears on video and cinema.
the broadcasting thingy is responsible for TV.
you sometimes see heaedbuts cut from a 15rated movie but they are present in a PG movie. but that is something different and only related to the BBFCs inconsistency.
but just to check:
T3 uncut as well.
But i also found this:
looks like they resubmitted that one to get a 12 rating
I don`t care I`m not even gonna watch thtopse stupid game making ofs
I remember reading that sometimes it depends on who is headbutting who.
This is how the BBFC explained cutting headbutting scene from SWII AOTC but not FOTR. (Both PG)
Good guys and Bad guys.
But then again I may have imagined it. Since when did the BBFC have to explain anything.
