News: EA at work on new Syndicate - ComputerAndVideoGames.com

a brand new entry in Bullfrog's cult classic Syndicate series
Good news Starbreeze are developing (Riddick games, The Darkness). Bad news, it's EA publishing, and will they have overall design choice?

But best news i've heard in ages, i still pull out Syndicate Wars for the PS1 everyone once in a while  and it means i wont have to take any Viagra for at least the next few weeks :smashin:

Absolutely one of my favorite games of all time!

They would have to keep the same "feel" of the game, but I suppose that would be difficult:( But in HD:smashin:)

Perhaps it's a case of rose tinted glasses, but it was just sooooo good to play:)

Don't count your chickens....

I did love the franchise, but it wouldn't be the first reimagining that's gone tits up.

I used to love Syndicate on the Amiga, the screams when you let rip with the flame-thrower

I'd love to see a revamped Syndicate on PSN/Xbox Arcade, the one that appeared on the Amiga/Jaguar ... not the PS one.

Anyone fear this is going to turn into an FPS :(

Syndicate was superb on the Amiga and at the time, a revolution in graphics.

I used to love Bullfrogs work.

More likely it'll be a third person squad game like that PS2 game with the rebels and russians, or something like Mercenaries (blow up anything) crossed with Blade Runner - or it should be.

Who knows, maybe they'll go Shadowrun on it, and nick the name and little else?

Loved this on the Amiga, used to play it for hours! Flamethrower was great but minigun was my favourite!

Can't help fear that it may be one of those games best left alone though. Next gen remakes don't always make a game better.

It would be great to see an updated version of this. I can still remember the sound of the mini-gun to this day!

I just hope they keep the same gameplay and game style but update the visuals / sound etc and add a online mode imagine everyone trying to take over the map :D it would make a great PSN download same way that wipeout HD has done and if it were to be the same price than that would be even better.

Fired up my PS1 copy, and it's still great fun. I tried the pseudo-Konami code but couldnt get it to work: Syndicate Wars Codes

A remake like Bionic Commando: Rearmed would be great, essentially the same, but with nods to modern controllers and graphics :smashin: but the hint of news implies to me it's going to be a full reworking, with all the horror that could potentially bring to fans. Besides which it'll be a couple of years, and who knows what'll be out by then.

Did anyone pick up Syndicate Wars (PS1) from the store recently? Just wondering if they touched it up at all, or if it's a straight port? Also any hints about the rumoured remake?

All PS1 games on the PSN are just straight ports no updates to HD or anything it's basically a PS1 game minus the disc.

as for the remake i haven't heard anything since the announcement it was being made, EA are saying nothing more so far.
